Ayer tuvimos la oportunidad de visitar un huerto
casero en el Jardín Botánico de Rio Piedras y aprender sobre cómo crear uno en
casa. Aprovechamos que Isabelle no tenia clases y nos dimos un paseito para aprender sobre como hacer un huerto en casa. Pudimos observar varios frutos
que se dan en la isla y que pueden ser cultivados de manera sencilla en envases
reusables como gomas (llantas de autos), tiestos, bolsas y hasta vimos plantas
en unos zapatos viejos.
Yesterday we had the opportunity of visiting a "home grown garden" at the "Jardin Botanico" of Rio Piedras. We learned how to build one at home. We took advantage of the fact that Isabelle had no school and we went on a trip to learn how to build a garden at home. We were able to observe several fruits and vegetables that could be home grown and the different reusable materials that could serve as planters. Some of these materials: car tires, bags and even old shoes.

Tremenda idea, tiestos hechos de gomas usadas!. A Isabelle le encantantaron, quiere que hagamos una gallinita. Las gomas tienen orificios en la parte de abajo para ayudar al drenaje.
Great idea, using old tires as planters. Isabelle loved them and wants us to make a chicken for our garden. The tires have holes on the bottom so water could drain easily.

El próximo paso, es comenzar el huerto. Espero que dentro de las próximas semanas
comencemos a construirlo. Les invito a
